Self-love is a concept that has been gaining popularity in recent years as more and more people realize the importance of taking care of their own well-being. Prioritizing your own happiness and fulfillment involves nurturing your physical, emotional, and spiritual needs. In this episode, we had a chat with Ms. Dhriti Agarwal - who owns a mental health association and strives to be a better individual every single day. In her interaction, Dhriti told us that showing emotions is more difficult than hiding them when you're crying or feeling angry. Self-love is nothing more than a selfless gesture characterized by forgiveness, empathy, and understanding.
As Dhriti continued to speak, she mentioned, “I feel like when you’re able to accept yourself, your own skin, your own imperfections and idiosyncrasies - it becomes easier to understand what you’re good at and what you’re not good at”. This statement is absolutely correct because understanding oneself makes life simpler. Even though loving yourself is not easy, one truth is that it definitely requires regular effort and commitment. It involves making time for activities that bring you joy and fulfillment. It involves setting healthy boundaries for yourself, taking care of both your physical as well as mental health, and nurturing your emotional and spiritual needs. By prioritizing your own well-being and happiness, you are better equipped to show up for others and offer positive contributions to the world around you.
Dhriti was further asked if it is important to love oneself than to love somebody else. She said that loving valuing your own self was more meaningful than anything else. She also believes that this type of love often comes from seeing something that you lack in your life. Ahead of this conversation, Dhriti led her team to talk further about the different ways in which we can show love for our own self.
